David Ronnefalk, 2016 IFMAR World Champion started his quest to add a virtual Worlds title to the prestigious Worlds title he won in Las Vegas back in October ’16. Ronnefalk, an early VRC Pro adopter, will compete in both the 1/8 electric buggies and in 1/8 nitro buggies VRC Worlds.

David topped the table on day 2 of the Timed practice in both Open and Spec class electric buggies but some fierce competition is awaiting him when it gets serious in Qualifying. This video shows David’s Wednesday ‘fastest time of the day’ run.

2016 IFMAR World Champion David Ronnefalk has claimed his first VRC World Championship title by winning the 15 minute long A-Main open final 1/8 electric buggies at the RC Tracks of Las Vegas off-road track, the very same track Ronnefalk won his IFMAR Worlds title 3 months before. 2014 VRC World Champion Marcin Maliński from Poland took second 2nd some 9 seconds back on Ronnefalk, and pole-sitter Warren Jones from the US snatched away 3rd from Swede Robert Hillman in the very last corner.

For David Ronnefalk it was a ‘take off and never look back’ final without too many trouble. Warren Jones had the speed but got himself in trouble just too often, clearly lacking the consistency that David demonstrated with his commanding lead. Just 3 laps before the end Jones was back in 5th but managed to clinch 3rd place right on the finish line.

A-Main final:

  1. David Ronnefalk SE 26 15:10.155
  2. Marcin Maliński PL 26 15:19.483
  3. Warren Jones US 26 15:29.731
  4. Robert Hillman SE 26 15:30.683

VRC invite you to compete in the upcoming 2017 Season 2, starting July 8th. 2017 Season 2 will be 6 events of which the 4 best results will count for the Season 2 Championship. Season 2 will end November 13th, which then allows for a full 6 weeks for the 2017 VRC Worlds. This reflects the results of the 2017 VRC Worlds poll to continue to concentrate the VRC Worlds in the month of December.

Season 2 will have a slightly different format of racing as Season 1: each event will have 2 rounds, a 5 day period for qualifying incl. the first weekend, and a 5 day period for main finals incl. the second weekend (no semi-finals midweek). This format should fit both the typical weekend as the typical mid-week VRC racer. Suit yourself!

Each class will be raced in Open (modified) and Spec class. The Open events are raced from the rostrum position, the Spec events can also be raced with behind-car view to make it easier for newcomers to r/c and VRC.
